What Are You Reflecting?

unwavering love of God, trishakeehn.comYou are made in the image of God, loved by God, and nothing can touch that. His love for you is unwavering.

God wasn’t any happier when your work got published or the nameplate was put on your door. He didn’t hold you higher in His heart because you created a charity, gave $100 to a homeless man or prayed on your knees for two hours.

God’s approval isn’t something you can earn.

When you make the decision to serve the Lord and be in ‘the house of worship’ on Sunday and Wednesday and sometimes Saturday, it’s actually for you, not God.

Being in church gives you a safe refuge to seek the source of unselfish love. Here you learn from others who have discovered the Truth and live it. Sunday is where you refill the reservoir of wisdom to love from His Word.

When you give from the love in your heart, this isn’t so that you receive better standing with people or God or get something tangible in return.

The love you share with others is simply a reflection of what you’re willing to accept and understand about God’s love for you.

The source of love will never let your well go dry as long as you keep coming back to receive His supply.

God will always love you the same yesterday, today and tomorrow… no matter what you’re willing to give.

Now More Than Ever He Loves You

‘Not this time.’

Yes, this time.

‘You don’t know what I’ve done.’

It doesn’t matter.

‘But it was really bad. I knew better.’

It is covered.

‘How? Why?’

His love spreads wider and sinks deeper than anything you’ve ever thought about doing.

His compassion is the kind that chases you down with aging roots of longing.

God's love, Jesus's love, God loves you, Jesus loves you, His devoted affection has been waiting forever for you. Yes, you.

His ferocious, fiery passion is to shower you in favor; He has forgiven it all.

His gut-wrenching yearning for you paid a price in blood so that you could come home to be with Him.

His arms remain open with kindness. His friendship anticipates holding you closer.

His mercy desires the ashes you have to offer. Bring your brokenness and mistakes. Hand over your battles and the hurt. The grace of God intends to trade them all for abounding beauty and joy. He breathes resurrection into your life.

His unfailing love chose you before you could ever choose Him. His entire existence is made to love you. He longs to lavish and bathe you in a spring of all-consuming peace.

Leave behind your regrets. Don’t try fixing it yourself. Just come as you are.

He loves you now more than ever. The Father’s arms are open wide and waiting…

How To Know God’s Love

John 15:9, Remain in my love, Jesus' loveOverthinking ruins you. Ruins the situation, twists it around, makes you worry and just makes everything much worse than it actually is.

Set your focus on the love of Jesus. Live in it. Breathe it. Constantly remind yourself of it.

We’ll know His love has invaded our hearts if, even in the pain, we want to see each other as brothers and sisters dearly loved, and held tightly by the Lord.

Anything that takes you away from loving other people is not worth your energy to think on.

Your Destiny Can’t Collect Dust

Even the pain works for your good

Every time God gives you a way out, you find a new way into a mess. Don’t let the fear of failure keep you from trying. No one has all the answers.

There’s nothing on your resume that should make God choose you, but He did.

Ignore the voice in your mind bringing up your flaws because no matter how many times you fail, no one can stop what God has your name on.

Your daddy owns the company. Nobody can apply for your position. You don’t have to be afraid of the competition. You can walk right in with the failures of your past and before you even speak, your Father in Heaven, the God of the universe says, “You’re Hired!”God's goodness, destiny, pain

Your destiny can’t collect dust. Even your pain will work for your good.

Not because you are good, but because God is good.

He is working behind the scenes right now. The heavens are shining up their edges because God knows you’re going to make it!

It’s time to let some things go. Where others are judging you, God justifies you. Don’t let their view of your circumstance keep you tied up.
For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison… (2 Corinthians 4:17).  Tell yourself what you’re facing today is just some light work. Let God take the heavy load by trusting when you pray that He’s got this one.

I’m praying in the power of Christ’s blood, that God’s power is working out the next phase in your life. May He restore in you the joy of your destiny… your salvation! In the end, you win!

God, finish what you started in us. Thank you for the pain, because only then did I realize how much you loved me. When others were throwing me away, you still loved me right where I was. Even when I was giving up on myself, You never did.

I declare nothing can separate me from the love of Christ. There’s nothing I can do that will make my God walk away and stop pursuing me. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. He loves me in my mess, even still!

Live Like Love

I just finished viewing the new ‘Son of God’ movie. Based on a true story movies are gripping because we connect on a real life level with the people. This particular picture allowed me to step into the epic truth of who Jesus was and is and partway through, everything in me just wanted to stand up and proclaim “HE IS THE MESSIAH!”

And it got me thinking, how can we live our lives not sharing who God is, who Jesus is? There is no life outside Christ, but what we call ‘ambition’, ‘a career’, ‘a name for ourselves’, maybe even ‘contentment’. Sadly, as I too am guilty of this, we don’t actually live in the fullness of believing all who Christ says He is, otherwise we wouldn’t be so complacent with the the way things are or the use of His name. We also wouldn’t be so wrapped up in our talents or the agenda we have set out to accomplish, but only how GREAT our God is, how marvelous His works are and how good His love and desires forever will be for us. Not just by our words, but mostly by our actions will people ever get a glimpse of Jesus. Whatever the case may be, if we truly love God and love people, we cannot deny them the Truth that Jesus lives, God is love and our lives are authored to testify this.

The love of God is meant to be a powerful force in our lives, one that will take us through even the most difficult trials without our ever doubting God’s love. Sadly, it’s when things don’t turn out in my favor, I question if God is really for me; “doesn’t He want this for me?” What a small-minded thought! He’s got the whole world in His hands and yet He sent His son to die for me. There is no higher display of love! My soul is consumed by the love of Christ on that cross and I feel God’s earth-shattering affections raining down; He loves me in it and through it all. God is love.

Oh my Lord, help us not to become so short-sighted in our situations to think this life is about our own stardom, fame and fortune here and now. Let us not be wrapped up in the gifts and blessings, the pleasures and pain, but only in the beauty of who you are, Jesus. Let us throw off passion and hope for our lives to be exalted and take up your desires for a life that testifies to your great name. Redeemer, Healer, Almighty, Savior, Defender, our King! If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. Your love, o Lord, it never goes away! With every breath I take, help me Lord, not lose sight of who you are. May my passions be fueled by the beauty of your Majesty and may I live like love. May I walk like a carpenter who has nothing to lose and everything to gain with your name! Amen. Amen. Amen.

Awakened to the Love of Jesus Christ

I am lovesick. I sit here in the stillness of the morning and my heart is sustained by my Healer. He revives me in the dawn as His breath blows a fresh air into these lungs. The Spirit of God quickens my life, empowering and invigorating me to do in Jesus’ Name what cannot be done by human flesh and blood alone. I can taste His sweet Spirit in the gentle breezes.

When I’m weak and defeated, God infuses a strength wholly beyond me. He puts iron in a weary and worn out soul. The fire of Christ is in my bones. I ask Him to pour out His Spirit on me in ways that exceed what He’s done in the past and vastly glorify His Name. He is forever faithful to His Word and I desire nothing more than to bring glory to Christ, to be used by Him to extend the outreach of His powerful hand, and to serve in His merciful Name.

I deliberately enter into a fresh season and invite Jesus to do something brand new in me and thank Him in advance for what He has planned. His ways are always right. Always fitting. I am filled with a childlike enthusiasm. Without having a clue what is ahead, I can have unshakable confidence that God will be good to me. He holds me securely in the palm of His hand.
